Meeting with CEO of Daehan Shipbuilding... Collecting opinions on difficulties and other issues
Kim Young-Rok, the candidate for governor of Jeollanam-do of Democratic Party of Korea, stressed on August 8, "We should take follow-up measures to Mokpo and Yeongam-gun get the effect of designation as "employment crisis areas" as soon as possible."
Kim visited the second plant of Daehan Shipbuilding., Ltd. in Yeongam on the same day and held a meeting with about 20 people, including the CEO of Daehan Shipbuilding Park Young-Deok, executives, and partner company CEO Kang Seung-hee.
He said, "First of all, I would like to express my deep appreciation to the executives and representatives of Daehan Shipbuilding, which runs a company in a difficult environment."
He added, "The Southwest economy is in a slump due to the long-term recession in the shipbuilding industry, and we hope that the designation of the employment crisis area will provide a breakthrough."
Kim also said, "To sacrifice the shipbuilding industry, which is one of Jeollanam-do’s main industries, we need to take more fundamental measures," adding, "If I become governor, I will do my best to advance President Moon Jae In's election pledge which is attracting second Korea Coast Guard Maintenance Center to the southwest area ."
He also announced that it will actively promote various measures to diversify and advance the shipbuilding industry, including the construction of a special industrial complex for repairing shipbuilding.
Park Yong-Deok, CEO of Daehan Shipbuilding, proposed improving synergy through the development of the Hwawon Industrial Complex in Haenam, where the headquarters of Daehan Shipbuilding is located, and attracting defense companies to the southwest of Jeollanam-do. Representatives of cooperative companies also expressed their difficulties, such as lowering the barriers to guarantees in the process of supporting operating funds.
Kim Young-Rok served as the first minister of agriculture and food under the Moon Jae In administration, the 18th and 9th lawmakers, and the head of the Department of Economic and Trade, and the vice-governor of Jeollanam-do.
