DH Shipbuilding Hits "10-Ship Milestone" This Year: Continuing the Winning Streak

  • Year-to-date cumulative orders reach 10 ships: Following 6 in January, 2 in February, and 1 on March 16.

  • Rising Brand Value: Amid global supply chain shifts, DH Shipbuilding cements its status as the "Suezmax Powerhouse" trusted by shipowners.

DH Shipbuilding continues its robust performance in the first quarter of 2024, announcing a series of new contracts that solidify its position as a global leader in the Suezmax market. Following 6 orders in January, 2 in February, and another on March 16, the company successfully secured an additional contract just four days later.

On March 20, DH Shipbuilding signed a construction contract with an Africa-based shipowner for one Suezmax-class crude oil tanker valued at approximately 134 billion KRW. This latest order resulted from the shipowner exercising an option clause, following an initial contract signed in January.

In the midst of global supply chain restructuring, shipowners are increasingly prioritizing shipyards with proven track records for quality and on-time delivery. DH Shipbuilding’s rising brand value as a "Suezmax Powerhouse" has made it a preferred partner for both long-standing and new clients.

The company’s market competitiveness is clearly reflected in its backlog. With 10 Suezmax-class tankers secured by mid-March, DH Shipbuilding’s total order book has expanded to 34 vessels. This provides approximately 3.5 years of stable workload, allowing the company to further strengthen its "selective winning strategy" focused on high-profitability projects.

"DH Shipbuilding is establishing itself as the 'shipyard of choice' for both existing and new shipowners amid the tanker market boom," said Gi-bong Jin, Head of Sales at DH Shipbuilding. "The exercise of this additional option is a direct result of the immense trust from our clients and our overwhelming competitiveness in the market."

The newly ordered vessel will be an eco-friendly ship equipped with a scrubber to reduce sulfur oxide emissions. It is scheduled for delivery to the shipowner by June 2029.
