DH Shipbuilding Holds Company-Wide AI Innovation Contest
- Expanding the use of AI across shipyard operations, including design, production, quality, and safety
- Applying winning ideas to actual work and strengthening AI capabilities to enhance smart shipyard competitiveness
DH Shipbuilding is accelerating AI-driven innovation by turning employees’ ideas into practical improvements in the workplace.
On September 7, DH Shipbuilding held an awards ceremony for its “2026 Company-Wide AI Innovation Contest.” The contest was designed to encourage employees to use generative AI to improve work efficiency and drive innovation in various areas, including production, safety, and quality.

The contest was held from June 4 to July 31 in two categories: ▲ Daily Work Efficiency and ▲ Smart Shipyard R&D Planning. A total of 72 ideas were submitted, and 19 winning projects, including the Grand Prize and Excellence Awards, were selected after evaluation. Many of the projects are already being applied to actual work, showing that employees’ ideas are leading to practical results.
The Grand Prize was awarded to a project that used AI to rebuild an existing electrical cable management program as a web-based system. The project received high marks for effectively applying AI to actual work and making the system easier and more convenient to use.
The Excellence Awards went to two projects: one that automatically manages the latest 3D design files to reduce repetitive tasks, and another that uses a web app to automatically calculate dimensions needed for steel processing.
Lee Seok-moon, CEO in charge of Management at DH Shipbuilding, said, “We are entering an era where a company’s competitiveness depends on how effectively it can apply AI to actual work and operations. By combining our employees’ hands-on experience with their AI capabilities, we aim to become a strong and agile company with leading AI competitiveness in the shipbuilding industry.”
DH Shipbuilding plans to expand the use of the winning projects across its operations. The company will also continue to strengthen its AI systems and support programs so that employees can make greater use of AI in their daily work.
