The sound of ship horns continues to resonate at DHshipbuilding as the company celebrates another milestone early in the year.
On February 6, DHshipbuilding held a simultaneous naming ceremony for two Suezmax crude oil tankers at its Haenam shipyard. This event came just one month after the company’s naming ceremony for four product carriers in January.
The ceremony was attended by DHshipbuilding Chairman Kim Kwang-ho, representatives of the shipowner, and classification society officials. The event featured traditional proceedings including the naming of the vessels, champagne breaking, and a horn-blowing demonstration to wish for safe voyages.
The two vessels are 157,000 DWT Suezmax crude oil tankers ordered in January 2023 by Greek shipping company Golden Energy. Each ship measures 274 meters in length, 48 meters in breadth, and 23.6 meters in depth. They are equipped with scrubbers (sulfur oxide reduction systems) to comply with international environmental regulations.
As of now, DHshipbuilding holds an order backlog of 24 vessels valued at approximately USD 2.107 billion, scheduled for delivery through the first half of 2027. The company is also preparing for an Initial Public Offering (IPO) in the second half of this year.
