Daehan Shipbuilding signed 12.5K LNG bunkering technology development MOU with ABS ship class

Daehan Shipbuilding (CEO Jeong Dae-sung) announced on Jan. 22 that it signed an MOU for the development of 12.5 KLNG bunkering vessels.

Korean Shipbuilding will develop ABS and 12.5K LNG bunkering vessels to meet the diverse demands of ship owners and will develop major blueprints this year.

During the cooperation process, Daehan Shipbuilding will proceed with the main design with ABS's specialized technical support and review, obtain an Approval Principle (AIP), and use it to accelerate sales and orders.

Daehan Shipbuilding signed a 7.5K LNG bunkering technology development MOU with ABS and LR ship class in 2020 and received official approval for the new layout.

With the environmental issues gradually intensifying, the demand for LNG bunkering vessels is expected to increase as interest in LNG fuel is also expected to increase. Considering the market conditions, Korea is trying to meet the needs of the market by completing the necessary basic architectonics as soon as possible.

"Daehan Shipbuilding has already been recognized as a medium-sized tanker manufacturing company in the global market," said Lee Kyung-Seok, head of the engineering department of Korea Shipbuilding, adding, "We will work harder to develop eco-friendly ship technology to meet the needs of global customers."
