Daehan Shipbuilding has won orders for three shuttle tankers…secured stable supplies for two years

Daehan Shipbuilding has won orders for three shuttle tankerssecured stable supplies for two years

Daehan Shipbuilding announced they succeeded in entering the high value-added ship sector. They received an order from Greece-based shipping company for 155,000 DWT (pure cargo capacity excluding tons of goods and weight of the ship itself) for three shuttle tankers (including two options).

The shuttle tanker is a special purpose ship that ships crude oil from marine to land storage bases.

In addition to the oil storage space, it also has a liquid cargo loading device located at the bow of the ship and an automatic positioning device that can maintain a certain position even in environments with tidal currents and waves.

This is the first time that Daehan Shipbuilding, which mainly built medium-sized commercial ships (oil products carriers and crude oil carriers), has won such a high-value-added ship.

The construction of the shuttle tanker is expected to revitalize the shipbuilding industry, which has been hit a rocky patch by the Corona 19 crisis, and the Daehan shipbuilding industry and local communities.

The order is 276.4 meters long, 48 meters wide and 23.7 meters high, and is expected to be delivered at the end of June 2022.

Currently, Daehan Shipbuilding has a total of 19 orders, securing a stable two years’ building volume.

Chung Dae-sung, CEO of Daehan Shipbuilding, said, "Daehan Shipbuilding will build high-quality ships, form trust with its customers, strengthen the competitiveness of its main ships, and make all-out efforts to develop new types and technologies."
