In Hannarae’s first sailing ceremony, Daehan Shipbuilding Co., LTD receives appreciation plaque

 

 

 

At the departure ceremony of the Hannarae, Daehan Shipbuilding Co., LTD CEO Chung Dae-sung received an appreciation plaque to construct it safely and successfully without any accident.

 

On June 30, a ceremony was held at Incheon Port No. 1 to celebrate the first sailing of 'Hannarae' which is newly built for Maritime High School students. Chung Dae-sung, Kang Dong-Joon, and Kim Young-soo were invited to the event as a representative of the Daehan Shipbuilding Co., LTD.

 

Hannarae was named by the public offering. Its lexical meaning is "big wings". It means that sailing the ocean like flying high because it made to trains young sea engineers.

 

The Hannare, which Daehan Shipbuilding Co., LTD built, was handed over to the Korea Ocean & Fisheries Institute in early May. The Hannarae can sail at speeds of up to 15 knots at 6,280 tons, 109.5 meters long and 17.2 meters wide, and can carry 180 people, including 40 crew members and teachers, and 140 trainees.

 

In addition, It has eco-friendly equipment such as Exhaust Gas Recirculation unit (EGR) and Selective Catalyst Reduction (SCR) and various hands-on training equipment such as a pilot simulator and dual fuel propulsion engine simulator. So it can provide eco-friendly and efficient education to trainees.

 

The first sailing ceremony contained reporting of Hannarae’s first sailing progress, the award of an appreciation plaque, congratulatory speech, and inspection of the training ship. The Hannarae will stay at Pier 1 of Incheon Port after the first sailing ceremony and will be used for training at Maritime High School in August this year.

 

Moon Sung-hyuk, Minister of Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries said in a congratulatory speech, "The Hannarae is expected to contribute to fostering future marine talent who will lead maritime powers as a training ship with eco-friendly facilities and state-of-the-art facilities. We will continue to devise policies support measures to foster more talented and competent marine human resources."
