Daehan Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. certified for designing LNG fuel offshore supply ships in the United States classification society
 
 

Daehan Shipbuilding announced on the 23rd that it obtained Approval In Principle (AIP) for the basic design of "125K LNG Bunkering Vessel (LBV) which supply LNG fuel to vessel on offshore, from ABS in the U.S., known as the world top three classification society.
 
The certification ceremony was held at the ABS Busan office. Lee Kyung-Seok, head of the Daehan Shipbuilding’s Technology Division, Darren Reskowski, CEO of Far East Asia Sales, Kim Sung-hoon, head of ABS branch office in Korea and Kang Young-Geun, executive director of KOMAC (Korea Maritime Consultants) attended the ceremony.
 
Daehan Shipbuilding and ABS are joint development small LNG Bunker Vessel with KOMAC.
 
Daehan Shipbuilding performs the basic design of ships, ABS conducts review compliance of regulations review, risk assessment, and safety and suitability verification.
 
Daehan Shipbuilding explained that it has expected to increase its sales competitiveness through developments of the next-generation flagship line by obtaining AIP.
 
Using this certification, Daehan Shipbuilding plans to win orders for small LNG Bunker Vessel and make efforts to develop eco-ship.
 
As LNG propulsion ships have increased due to strengthening environmental regulations, demand for LNG Bunker Vessel that supply LNG fuel has also increased.
